Attention UT School of Nursing students! If you’re looking to complete your required three-hour volunteer shift for your public health class, please reach out to the volunteer manager directly to arrange a private volunteer event for you and/or a group. You can reach him at adamvillarreal@austindiapers.org. We look forward to your participation!

Q: How do I register to volunteer?
A: You’re in the right place! Just click the “Volunteer” button on our website — it brought you to this page. Here, you’ll see a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities open to the community. Click on an opportunity that interests you, and you’ll be redirected to our volunteer platform, POINT. If you don’t already have an account, you’ll be prompted to create one before signing up.

Q: What should I wear when volunteering?
A: Please wear clothing that’s appropriate for working in a warehouse. Closed-toe shoes are required, and we ask that midriffs remain covered. Comfortable clothes you can move around in are best!

Q: What can I expect when volunteering?
A: Volunteer tasks often include wrapping diaper bundles, sorting donations, taking inventory, and preparing distributions. Volunteering with us is easy, hands-on, and fun — and it makes a big impact in our community!

Q: Are there any perks to volunteering?
A: Definitely! Our volunteer space is climate-controlled, and we offer free snacks, filtered water, and coffee. Plus, we’ve got a stereo system with surround sound speakers — volunteers get to choose the music while they work!

Q: Can I schedule a private volunteer group?
A: Yes! If your company, organization, or group of friends would like to schedule a private volunteer session, reach out to Adam at adamvillarreal@austindiapers.org. We ask that you reach out at least one month in advance so we can coordinate the best experience for your group.

Q: Do you give diapers directly to individuals?
A: We work with over 40 partner agencies across seven counties — Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, Burnet, and Lee — to distribute diapers. Our partners serve babies, children, families, and seniors.

Q: Where do these diapers come from?
A: About 40% of our inventory comes from community diaper drives and donation drop-off spots. The other 60% is purchased in bulk from our manufacturing partners at less than half the retail price.

Q: What are your most needed sizes?
A: We receive the fewest donations — and the most requests — for sizes 4, 5, 6, and Pull-Ups. Babies tend to stay in these sizes the longest, and many people think only of newborns when donating. Larger sizes also cost more per diaper.

Q: Why not cloth diapers?
A: Most daycares and shelters don’t allow cloth diapers, and many families don’t have access to the laundry facilities needed to clean them regularly. That’s why we focus on disposable diapers.

Q: Can I come volunteer again?
A: Yes, absolutely! We’d love to have you (and your group!) back. Just head to our website, click on the “Get Involved” tab, then select “Volunteer” to choose another date and time that works for you.
